Family mediation is widely known for its use prior, during or after a break-up or a divorce. On this level, family mediation helps the (ex) spouses assume their respective current and future responsibilities and helps allocate parent – child time, while also tending after the children’s needs and activities.

Family mediation also applies to Family Businesses. Family businesses produce 45%-70% of a country’s GNP and at least half of the most successful businesses globally are family businesses.

What is family mediation?

Family mediation is a process where a third – neutral – person helps the family define the issues that need to be resolved (e.g. financial issues, issues relating to the life and education of the children, the family home and other business matters), and to agree on some or all of these issues. Family mediation usually takes place in at least 3-4 bi-weekly 2-hour sessions.

Why family mediation?

Because family issues are usually not legal but deeply human issues with legal implications. Research has shown that family mediation is immediate, practical and beneficial both financially and emotionally. Due to its voluntary nature and the active participation of the parties in decision-making, both parties win and litigation may be prevented.
