For the first time in years, that I’ve been in prison, I was able to really communicate with my family and not end up upset with each other.

With my colleagues, communication has improved and this reflects on the relations with the rest of the community.

A big “thank you” to this program for existing; may it never stop because it is really helpful here, in prison, and also for when we leave from here.

Ε., prison staff

It was certainly a different kind of training. It was the first time that I learned about restorative justice. (…) Peace circles are a form of communication that promotes mutual understanding, cooperation, mutual respect and also transforms conflict and helps resolve it. This is why they are so important especially in our workplace, in prison.

G., inmate

The effectiveness of peace circles is impressive, because debating over something is tiring and meaningless. The art of listening should be taught.

F., prison school teacher

An excellent program. Besides learning how to listen, we connected with colleagues we only used to say hello to because we never found the time to get to know each other. I wish we could continue with this training and work together again.

The skills I learned through Prison of Peace impacted my life significantly: I am now better able to manage my emotions, to understand others and to provide them with a safe space where they can be truly seen.
